Ullesthorpe Church of England Primary School

Mrs Leese - Year 5/6 teacher

After I finished my degree in Social Psychology, I took a gap year and went backpacking. Whilst I was in Australia, I worked with a family who lived in (very) remote Queensland. Their 4 children were educated through the School of the Air and home schooled. It was my job to organise and teach the lessons for the children and it was then that I realised this was the career for me! Busy, challenging but so rewarding!

When I returned home after many more exciting adventures, I gained a position as a teaching assistant and then trained to teach. Since I qualified in 2004, I have worked in every year group in Key Stage 2. I really enjoy all of the primary curriculum and find there is so much for children to get enthusiastic about. It is a privilege and rather wonderful when you see a child's imagination spark and their interest in a subject grow.

My husband and I have 2 young children and live next door to my parents, so I feel very lucky to have a close knit family. We love reading together, listening to music, going to the theatre and messing about in the garden. When I get time to myself, I day dream about where we might travel to next and what adventures are still to be had!
