Ullesthorpe Church of England Primary School

Mrs Hartley - EYFS & Year 1 teacher

I have been teaching now for 19 years and absolutely love being part of a school community. I have spent a lot of my teaching career in Foundation Stage, which is perfect for me, as I find it so rewarding supporting children to learn, whilst playing or being outdoors.

I have developed a keen interest in the subject of science, as I think awe and wonder for children is so important. My aim is to develop children’s curiosity, encouraging them to ask questions and exploring the wonders of the world around them.

Outside of school I attend a Zumba class, which involves dancing to really cool music. I used to dance when I was younger so this has been a great new hobby for me. I also like to chill out at the weekend doing Yoga. I live next to a wood so my family and I go walking all year round.  I enjoy photography and am often found snapping pictures of nature, capturing the changes in the seasons. My favourite food is a Sunday Roast with family. I have a son who is ten years old, one cat called Squeak and a large African land snail called Nibbles. I also long to own a dog one day to take on my walks.

My favourite holiday destination is Menorca but I also like camping and the great outdoors. Climbing a mountain in the Lake District was one of the best days ever. The views were amazing!
