Welcome to Birch Class
2023 - 2024
Our priority is to nurture and support our pupils as they move into KS2 and recognise the step up that many feel between KS1 and KS2. We prioritise helping every one of them to be the very best that they can be and have class agreement to help our classroom be a safe place where everyone feels respected and valued.
In Birch class, we aim to provide a rich and engaging curriculum which encourages a life-long love of learning in our children. Children in Birch Class will spend the Autumn Term swimming weekly and it is wonderful to see the progress that they make during these sessions. Year 4 also have the opportunity to attend a 2 night residential at Beaumanor Hall and test out their team work, resilience and have fun with friends.
We place a very high emphasis on the importance of reading and, as with all directed homework, we appreciate and depend upon the support of our parents to encourage and support a home-school learning partnership.
We will regularly communicate with our Birch class parents through emails and phone calls, but please do not hesitate to ask for a face-to-face meeting with one of the class teachers if any concerns or issues arise.

Snow day 10th March 2023
Good morning Birch Class!
Happy Snow Day! I hope you are all staying safe, warm and cosy and making plans for a big snowman in the garden!
Mrs Sharpe and I will miss you today but we have got some activities for you to do to keep your brains going.
The English we started yesterday has just a little bit left to finish. You have to read the information about Isatou Ceesay and take notes just like we did together yesterday.
There is an assignment set on Doodle maths for you to have a go at. It is practising some of the things you have already learnt at school so you can get really good at them.
I have also included a snowy day creative activity if you are feeling inspired by the snow today. There are 3 activities on that page but you do not have to do them all- just the ones that you are interested in.
Have a lovely day and we will see you next week.
Stay smiley Birch class!
