Ullesthorpe Church of England Primary School

Mount Cook Year 6 Residential 2024

Monday 3rd June:

We arrived safely and the children went to their first activities, which for Ullesthorpe children was the low-ropes course, mini zip-line and some team problem-solving challenges. The children worked together brilliantly, communicating with each other and sharing tips. Dinner was delicious and everyone ate well. Children are unpacking in their rooms and getting excited about the team challenges tonight.

Tuesday 4th June:

A good night's sleep was had by all and we were up bright and early for archery tag. Breakfast went down very well! It was a bit of a soggy morning today, but we all had great fun at tag archery and we enjoyed some puzzle team games.

We built go karts and tried the indoor climbing wall. Some children really pushed themselves out of their comfort zone and were very brave!

We sent some eggs into space in home made rockets this evening, before a friendly game of football. All tucked up in bed now.

Wednesday 5th June:

Super attitude and behaviour continues from all the children!

Everyone slept very well last night after a full day, and had to be woken up this morning for breakfast! All fed and ready to go...

In the morning, we did archery in the quarry and played some points games. Then came a really excellent orienteering activity that the children enjoyed greatly. Rock climbing and abseiling was on the menu for this afternoon!

Everyone is enjoying the food, and tonight is pizza night :)

What an action packed day - the children have been incredible: brave, resilient and supportive of each other. Some real challenges that pushed them out of their comfort zone on the abseiling and rock climbing!

All are tired, but we are going on a ramble tonight after dinner to wake ourselves up!

Thursday 6th June:

It has been a Good Morning at Mount Cook. Fry up, cereals, croissants, toast and fruit - it's a feast every morning!

Our Ullesthorpe groups have had a very exciting day. The children learnt a little more about bushcraft - lighting fires with different natural fuel sources, and building a variety of shelters.

They have also faced the Rooftop Rider - a high zip wire that reaches speeds of 35 miles per hour, eek. They have earned their chocolate fudge cake tonight!
